Small windows - There are two approaches to small windows.

   1. Small scale: for a solution that is in scale with the window, try sill-length gathered curtains or a simple lace valance. Use a shade or blind inside the window frame if there is room for it.
   2. Large scale: try to disguise the modest nature by surrounding it with a valance and full-length draperies. In this way the window can be made to appear higher and wider.
Bay windows - there are two ways of treating the three panels of a bay window.

1. A pair of drapes which can be hung at each section and pulled back with tiebacks.
   2. One pair of wide drapes can be drawn back to each side leaving the window free.

Yet another alternative is to have blinds placed over each individual window and accentuated with a valance and/or side panels.
French doors - some French doors open inward and need a treatment that will not obstruct traffic. This calls for one of three possible solutions:

   1. Drapes that pull back to either side, which can be hung on a decorative rod or track.
   2. Drapes that are fixed to the doors themselves on two rods. The drapes may be pulled in at the centre creating an hourglass effect or split and pulled from the centre out creating a keyhole effect.
   3. Blinds, such as the Silhouette or the 1 3/8" wood blind can be mounted with hold down brackets on the bottom to prevent      them from swinging out with the opening and closing of the door.
